This project was for a beautiful cottage in the centre of Windermere that is used as a holiday home. The furniture and furnishings were all quite new and needed to stay, the room just needed a little refresh in the form of wallpaper and paint.
There are a few striking features in this room that I needed to consider, firstly the gorgeous handmade Tibetan rug and the fireplace. I wanted to give the fireplace more of an impact and focus for the room and so the client agreed to paint the surround in a rich Farrow and Ball Inchyra Blue, this colour really complemented the rug with its green blue tone. The wallpaper has a small detail which wrapped the room on two sides behind the two sofas but didn’t fight with the other patterns in the room. It has the reds and soft greens needed to bring the scheme together, I took the green tones from the wallpaper and matched it to Valspar paint colours for the wood work and the walls and ceiling in Barest Hush and Swiss Livery which are really warm colours.
It has transformed the feel of the room and the client is really pleased.
